It’s almost time for Halloween and with every passing day the spooky atmosphere of the time is increasing. Along with new decorations and trick-or-treating comes the choice of costume. This year, if you want to stand out of the crowd make a DIY version of Pennywise’s clown costume from the movie, “IT”. With some simple items you can recreate the costume of the evil clown and become the center of attraction in your neighbourhood.
Let’s start with trousers and shirt. Choose bright-colored trousers with bold and vivid patterns, such as yellow and orange stripes. As for the shirt, a white frill shirt with wide-open cufflinks would work best. For the shoes, choose ones of bright colour. Boots are preferable for a better Pennywise look.
Next, it’s time to focus on the headgear, namely the iconic ruffled collar. To create the collar, take two yards of red velvet fabric. Measure out the circumference of your neck and double it. Now using two strips of the fabric, stitch them together in a circle. Insert one safety pin for the back closure and you now have the Pennywise’s collar.
Lastly, to complete the look use white and red face paint to create the makeup of the clown. Begin with a white base and draw in the shape of eyes, eyebrows and any other facial feature with the red paint. To further add to the creepy effect, add a red clown nose and draw creepy lines with a black eyeliner.
