Are there any rumors or speculation about why the reps left TSM?
Did Reps Leave TSM?
There have been rumors circulating for months regarding whether or not Eric “Reps” Winter has left Team SoloMid (TSM). Reps has been a crucial player in TSM’s Valorant team since the game’s release in 2020, so the possibility of him leaving has understandably caused concern among fans.
However, it wasn’t until a recent tweet from Reps himself that the rumors gained traction. On July 6th, 2021, Reps tweeted: “Time to start fresh and better myself.” This cryptic message immediately led fans to believe that Reps had indeed left TSM.
But, as is often the case with these kinds of situations, the truth is a bit more complicated. Reps did not leave TSM entirely, but he did step down from the starting roster. In a statement released by TSM on July 7th, the organization confirmed that Reps would be taking a break from competitive play to focus on his mental health.
“We at TSM support Reps’ decision and will be doing everything we can to make sure he is in the right headspace to return to competitive play when he’s ready,” the statement read.
While it’s certainly disappointing to see such a talented player take a step back from the game, it’s important to remember that mental health should always come first. In recent years, esports organizations like TSM have made great strides in prioritizing the well-being of their players, knowing that the intense pressure and high stakes of competitive play can take a toll on mental health.
It’s unclear when Reps will return to the starting roster for TSM, but in the meantime, the team will be looking to fill the gap he leaves behind. TSM has already announced that Zachary “zekken” Patrone will be filling in for Reps in the upcoming VCT Stage 3 Masters tournament.
In conclusion, while the rumors of Reps leaving TSM proved to be somewhat true, the situation is not as dire as many fans initially believed. Reps is taking a break to focus on his mental health, and TSM is supporting him every step of the way. With zekken stepping in, TSM will still be a formidable force in the upcoming tournament, and fans can rest assured that Reps will return to play when he’s ready.
On Monday, December 14th, news broke that the renowned North American esports organization, Team SoloMid (TSM), had parted ways with long-time League of Legends team member and substitute Jungler, Matthew “Akaadian” Higginbotham.
Akaadian started his professional esports career during the 2017 NA LCS Summer Split with Immortals. He joined TSM in June of 2018 as a substitute Jungler for the team’s 2019 summer split and ended up taking the starting role for the majority of the second half of the season. This past November, Akaadian parted ways with the team and was replaced by TSM academy Jungler Dardoch.
This surprise announcement of Akaadian’s departure from the team has been met with mixed reviews from the team’s fan base and the esports community at large. While there has been speculation as to why Akaadian left the team, neither he or the team have officially released any information regarding the circumstances behind the split.
Following the announcement, the team’s owner Andy “Reginald” Dinh posted on Twitter saying that “Akaadian has a bright future ahead of him” and that “TSM is confident he will find success.” He also thanked Akaadian for his contribution to the team and wished him success in his future endeavors.
Although the reasons behind Akaadian’s departure remain a mystery, there is no denying that the North American League of Legends scene will feel his absence. Akaadian was an incredibly talented and well-loved player and TSM fans will surely miss him on the rift.
